(Although I did have a fun bicameral trip to Iceland a few years back where their head of parliament told us they briefly adopted that structure but quickly got rid of it because it didn't work. House members of the delegation cheered. Senators pouted. It was fun.)

Our founders also knew this. Like any contract, you can tell what the negotiators (our founders) knew wouldn't stand close future scrutiny by what they prohibited any future party from amending. I present Article V:
For what it's worth, I have proposed an Article V work around: create nationally-elected at large senators that would equally dilute all other states and force the institution to consider public will. And maybe that's the whole point of my thread here. I hope the Senate exceeds my expectations tonight. But if they don't, don't blame a party. Blame the institution, and those members who have put the interests of Senators over the interests of the American people. And demand better.
