The Trump regime has now attacked 16 vessels in international waters, killing 66 individuals whom the regime suspected were criminals.

66 people.

Gone.

No investigation. No arrests. No charges. No trial.

Just murdered.

Because it makes Trump feel good.

@randahl not only Trump.

Ever US American president within my Lifetime used to be exactly as you describe.
No matter if it is about some people in a boat, kids in Afghanistan or harmless families in the middle east, the US bombs proudly - and the citizens are proud about it.

That's how a country creates enemies.

@randahl it's horrific, but we should remember that bush, obama, and other presidents did this too. just not random boats, is all. wedding parties yes; fishing boats no.

Human Rights Watch

A Wedding That Became a Funeral

This 28-page report calls on the US government to investigate the strike, publish its findings, and act in the event of wrongdoing. The December 12 attack killed 12 men and wounded at least 15 other people, including the bride.

Tbh it worries me more that the military seem to be "fine with that". It's nothing less than following unlawful orders. Every killing makes at least the navy more complicit.
Other branches of military, rather say the so adored "troops", seem to "go along" with it.
Nothing is *not* "falling apart" there. At least not as we get to know of.

@randahl These are surely a war crimes and as such should be subject to international law that ensures a cessation and bringing of the perpetrators to face criminal charges as war criminals?

@randahl isn’t a military attack against a foreign-flagged vessel in international waters an act of war?

Is the international community actually ignoring that, or is our news just not covering the international response?

AND because it makes a lot of (MAGA) people feel good.
This is something that should get much more attention: populist leaders are often blamed for hate, racism and the like. While there may be nothing wrong with this, the risk is to overlook the fact that their racism, hate speech etc is also part of a communication strategy to satisfy and foment their extremist base, which they get their power from.
Trumps will come and go, but that base will remain and new trumps will prosper on it.

@randahl I think (I know I could be mistaken) but the general misconception about Trump's presidency comes from the assumption that he is a president. He's not and he does not act as one. He is and acts as a CEO of a company. In his opinion the US are nothing else but a divisions or departments in a structured organisation following his strategy and executing his tactics. Not guilty until proven otherwise? That is purely a waste os time an resources in his opinion or understanding.

@randahl And does anyone think he cares at all about drugs entering the country? Of course he doesn't. Killing people is the point. It's his starting point. Next he'll kill people closer to home, and he'll keep getting closer and closer until, like Putin, he can kill whoever he wants. Other dictators can do it. Why not him? He wants that power.

@carfreesince93 @randahl Venezuela is not even a top producer and exporter of drugs (not that this would make extrajudicial killings okay … or any killing, drug dealing does not have the death penalty).

They do have lots and LOTS of oil, though.
