New article in USA Today published today about universal basic income that I was interviewed for by its author. #UBI
@scottsantens My wife and I both support UBI.
UBI also ought to be accompanied by universal health care.
We are undergoing a major social change in which traditional jobs are being replaced by more ad hoc employment and also by simply fewer jobs due to computers/robots replacing people, even in professional things like legal associates.
So we need UBI+Universal Health to enable people to do what our society needs and that people do best: To innovate, to jump to new ideas, to take risks, to do things that computers and robots can not.
There is a rarely discussed side issue - which is whether UBI ought to result in a reduction in thins like SNAP, workers comp, etc. That's a complicated question, but my sense is that UBI+Uhealth will cause some reductions in those programs.
