A4: I saw Adam Savage talk about this once and I realised I do the same - purchase the cheap version of something, then get the nice version once the cheap one wears out.
I'm enough of a grey beard that I've started on my nice "round" of tools. I'd be happy to trade up some of my older cheap ones, but I'd hate to lose my nice Wera screwdrivers.
