delightful & curious watching students this morning write postcards, mostly to their parents, in which they declare their love for them, that they miss them, that they're writing these in class! and questions like "where do I put the stamp? how do I mail it? where is the post-office"? maybe I need to be teaching classes like "The Value of Public Infrastructure" or "Where is Infrastructure and How Does it Work?" #othernetworks

@loriemerson

What a beautiful activity. I teach narrative ways of exploring your own values, and there’s a sequence of questions about sources of support for the efforts that a person has made to live close to their preferred ethical stance. The questions “who is it that knows this about you? who would not be surprised that this is something you care about?” bring out stories about love that are always surprising, including to the speaker. It’s not always family, but there’s always someone. Writing a postcard to that person would be a lovely thing to do.

@kate yours is a beautiful activity too and a wonderful way to make students feel like there doesn't need to be a separation between them as people with full, rich lives and them as students in the classroom
