I will start installing Mastodon v4.5.0 on Masto.host.
There will be about 15 seconds of downtime during the upgrade.
This update introduces quote posting on Mastodon. More information at https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/11/mastodon-4.5/

@mastohost quick question: is there a setting somewhere that I can use to increase the per-toot character count? Thanks
@scottearle Mastodon doesn't provide a setting to change the number of characters. It is possible to do so, but it requires modifying the actual Mastodon code, which is not feasible on my platform. Everyone I host shares the same code, and running the native code is the only way I can automate upgrades and maintenance. Sorry. If Mastodon does offer a setting to change the number of characters in the future, just ping me, and I will gladly change it for you.
