I've been having a hard time feeling motivated to maintain and work on @TangerineUI lately.

It's a bigger project than it seems, and for every new version of Mastodon it requires quite a bit of time to update.

If you value my work and enjoy the theme, and you want to help keep the project going, I would greatly appreciate your support over on my Ko-fi 🫶 https://ko-fi.com/nileane

Many thanks to everyone who has already tipped over the past few months 🙌

#TangerineUI v2.5.1 is out now (already, I know), with just a teeny tiny 🤏 handful of visual fixes. But most importantly, the release brings an updated version of the included installation script:

• The script now automatically handles adding localized names for each variant of Tangerine UI.
• The script now defaults to the latest release tag instead of the main branch.
    - This will ensure that you're always installing the latest stable release of Tangerine UI and not accidentally pulling from my untested commits pushed to the main branch at 2am.
    - However, you can still run the script with the --main flag to install from the main branch if that's your jam.

More on Tangerine UI v2.5.1 and the updated installation script here: https://github.com/nileane/TangerineUI-for-Mastodon/releases/tag/v2.5.1

The installation instructions have been updated accordingly in the README document: https://github.com/nileane/TangerineUI-for-Mastodon?tab=readme-ov-file#installation-for-mastodon-admins

@TangerineUI Can I suggest/request the readme has a section called "Updating" because every time I find myself wondering how to do that. I already have it installed so I don't think I need the install instructions but I can't find anything on updating...

@M0YNG sure!
Updating simply amounts to running the install again though, does that need clarifying?

@TangerineUI it's a nit pick, but I'm never sure exactly how to update.

Would be nice to be obvious for admins like me who forget how to do things!

Do I need to git pull first?
Do I run install? it's already there ...
When I do run the installer it says
"Already up to date." and "Already present in themes.yml" a few times, so did it work?

@M0YNG Right, yeah the README could benefit from an Update section.

But to answer your question: yes, if you're using the install.sh script, simply run it again and you're good to go :)

"Already present in themes.yml" means Mastodon's themes.yml file didn't need updating, but the script will still update all the CSS files!

@TangerineUI Makes sense, and is what I assumed, but it's good to have confirmation.
Mastodon.Radio has all variations of tangerine available as alternative themes if you want to add to the list
