Hey, New Yorkers, time to put all that joy and enthusiasm to work: demand that the city council allocate .5% (yes, HALF of a percent) of the city budget to the city's libraries--because fuck Eric Adams, and because you NEED those libraries to work properly.

In the same vein, the are budget proposals to cut significant funding to Chicago's libraries. People need to continue speaking out about it, and make the city fix the budget to keep that funding.

And now for better news:
18 of the 20 levies to fund libraries in Ohio passed; these monies will compensate the lack of state funding that Mike DeWine enabled by changing the formula to fund public libraries with a one line item.
And the two levies who didn't pass, lost by narrow margins.
"Since 2008, 92% of all library levies on Ohio ballots have been approved by voters, according to the Ohio Library Council."
