Giant diesel generator for if the power goes out. It is painted beige, and looks like a giant truck engine. I wish I had brought a banana into the room to put next to it for scale. It is much taller than I am, and significantly heavier. It was not running while we were, which is good because it’s 115 decibels when it’s on. Apparently this thing could pull a train. Or…. It could make sure we don’t lose data if the power goes out for more than five seconds.

I don’t really know what’s going on in this big black rack full of thick black outlet hoses and green lights and ethernet cabling. I was told, but I’d just heard so many other exciting things that I’m afraid this new information just fell straight out of my head.
