They're rare (most buildings don't have one) and magical, with influence over their buildings and their ambience, often protective of their buildings' inhabitants/customers/workers/etc.
I created the species for A Dragonling's Family (first book in the series; both books stand alone), and wanted to do more with them in A Wolf-Shifter's Pack. So I made a city-spirit a major character in this book!
