When I was a kid my family lived in a house on a big lot in the old part of town. The yard was surrounded by towering rhododendrons and apple trees. The huge bushes were overgrown and hid big dry open spaces underneath.
When I needed a minute from a a family of seven I would hide out under the rhododendrons. I had blankets, a pillow and some favorite books to keep me company. Now sixty years later I open the back of my car to snuggle with a blanket and read. It feels the same but different.
Summer can't stand anyone feeling alone so here we are. She does love when I read out loud.
Summer is a dear and faithful friend.
