Reminder: a person in the RICHEST 0.1 percent causes more carbon pollution in one DAY than someone in the BOTTOM 50 percent does in a whole YEAR.

The high carbon lifestyles of the super rich are burning through the world’s remaining carbon budget and costing us our future.

How does this help build wind? Are readers driven to demand the building of solar on every roof? Or cover canals with cells, or put wind generation under transmission lines?

Emerging democracies have to build solar, former socialist states have to build wind, declining democracies must, monarchies have to, parliamentary systems have to end carbon fuels.

Please promote action. Earth saving action. Instead.

@greenpeace the super rich aren't doing this by themselves. All of the power the super rich have to destroy the environment is coming from the super bigoted, a huge group dominated by working-class & poor people. I hear far too much about the super-rich and far too little about confronting the super-bigoted, a far more dangerous group.

The super-rich are not just overconsuming carbon, but also actively investing in and profiting from the most polluting corporations.

“The climate crisis is an inequality crisis. The very richest individuals in the world are funding and profiting from climate destruction, leaving the global majority to bear the fatal consequences of their unchecked power.”

The money for climate action, nature protection and public goods is there, it’s just in the wrong hands.

We urge governments to #TaxTheSuperRich and support fair global tax rules to protect the future of people and the planet.

Tax the super-rich

Are you done watching billionaires hoard wealth and power while the world drowns in growing inequality and climate chaos?

@greenpeace

There is no social.function for hoarded wealth with nothing to buy except governments. Billionairism is a malfunction.
