This stream criticises the video by Hank Green, “ChatGPT isn’t smart. It’s something much weirder” where he interviews Nate Soares about the book he co-authored with Eliezer Yudkowsky, titled “If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies - Why Superhuman AI would kill us all” — which is essentially utter bullshit written by two grifters.

I was about to write about this, but Brooks here does a much better job at explaining the levels of bullshittery.

I am just baffled at the amount of bottled air these ‘AI bros’ manage to sell on a daily basis.

Something that’s said in the stream is (paraphrasing) that it’s easier to sell the nightmare scenario than the dream or the reasoned, informed take. People respond better to stories and narratives rather than facts and the boring truth.

Remember: LLMs don't think. Neural networks don't think. It's snake-oil language meant to be suggestive of something that isn't actually happening.
