Hello! Hello. It's #nakeddiefriday today, and I wanted to show you one of the older works. This is an automotive ASIC fabbed for Toyota, part number DF028. I do not know the function of this particular device.

The die identifies itself as D028F though. Kinda the same thing. Has Toyota logo on, I wonder if they actually have silicon design teams.

A close-up on the die ID; says D028F on line 1 and has the logo and TOYOTA placed below it.

This is made with a 2 metal layer process. The difference between the two layers is rather stark: M1 has a very warm colour, while M2 is the opposite. Polysilicon is coloured pink-ish.

The device is for the most part an analog design, with a small block of logic in the lower right corner of the image. They seem to employ a mix of FETs and bipolar devices: here, the device on the right side is certainly a MOSFET with poly gate, but the left side seems to be a whole lot of bipolar transistors?

A lot of head scratching here.

The digital section looks very funky with those comically large vias between metal layers.

A via the size of a transistor? I'll take it.
