@rachel thankypu Lib Dem’s and Ed Davey for talking sense. Odd how so few media outlets give you the credit. Almost full house of Lib Dem’s which is more than be said of Labour
@rachel That's what happens towards the end of time: processes start to contradict themselves, compromising everything you thought was logical and reverse left/right, good/bad, protect and defend/oppress and extort. It started with beating up XR protests and Pro Palestine movements. In a short while, this sub-reality comes to a grinding halt and reverses, while humankind keeps getting more violent and bloodthirsty.
Someone's got to reprogram the matrix or reset it to original OEM settings.
@rachel It's a 10 minute rule bill from a noxious troublemaker. 10 minute rule bills are generally ignored by the governing party and making an exception to vote against this one would give it more credibility than it deserves. I'm no fan of Starmer or Labour but I think the whips called this one right and grumbling MP's should know better.
@bill without the “grumbling MPs”, the bill would have passed. Go look at the numbers.
@rachel Right, and then nothing happens because it's a 10 minute rule bill. I do wish they'd clean up some of this arcane procedural nonsense. It would make all of this easier to understand and give wreckers like Farage fewer toys to play with when he wants to cause trouble.
 @rachel
How to vote for something oppressive whilst attempting to maintain plausible deniability that you didn't vote for it. Truly, the coward's path.
Do you have details?
@iaruffell MPs vote down Farage’s proposal for UK to leave ECHR – as it happened https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2025/oct/29/shabana-mahmood-home-office-immigration-pmqs-labour-keir-starmer-kemi-badenoch-conservatives-uk-politics-live-news?CMP=share_btn_url&page=with%3Ablock-69021c3e8f082aa93a7eb522#block-69021c3e8f082aa93a7eb522
Thanks. I've been avoiding Graun and BBC which leaves me a bit behind, sometimes. Presumably some Labour folk ignored him, if that fell.
@iaruffell yes. As it happened, more Labour MPs voted against it than the majority. If they hadn’t, it would have passed.
Yes, abstention would be to cede whatever shreds of authority they have left to Farage. So that is, what, a seventh of the PLP with any moral compass or political clue?
@rachel Just wondering how far right Herr Sturmer is willing to go.
