Today’s adventure: despite the chilly rain, we walked to the train station. We ran into a Chinese-Canadian tourist family, and they were charmed by Odin. I found out they were about to go into the worst “Asian” place I’ve ever tried (“authentically Dutch” is not a quality you crave in your ramen), warned them off, and told them about the nearby strip mall full of “for immigrants by immigrants” food. They basically adopted me. The mother added me on WeChat

in all seriousness, "good Dutch food" is like, the bread, milk, cheese, chocolate and yoghurt at the grocery store; solid fundamentals from high-quality ingredients. If you want to try something hot, fresh and "Dutch", there are friet (French fries), bitterballen (fried... stew?) and poffertjes (pancakes), which you'll note all sound quite unhealthy. Dutch ice cream from Dutch milk is great. Other than that... eat at overtly non-"Dutch" places while visiting the Netherlands. There are a lot of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean places.

Oh, I forgot about fish because I don't care for it. If you like fish, there are a lot of street vendors in busy spots. "Meeuwenoverlast" = "seagulls will relentlessly pursue you"
