One key lesson from the Caerphilly by-election is (or at least should be) that ReformUK can be defeated not by adopting some of its policies in an attempt to strip away their support via imitation, but by forthright opposition for what they stand for (and by an associated recognition that tactical voting in a FPTP system is the best current inoculation against the Right in elections).
Will Labour learn that lesson?
Seems unlikely!
