in fact this song, which has been a favorite of mine for 30 years, makes me think of the scene from the Six Feet Under pilot where Nate and Claire are in the supermarket after their dad died, probably because of its bittersweet nature and the fact that I have literally heard it in the supermarket probably half a dozen times in my life.
the song itself has become somehow liminal, and I think that's exactly what she was going for.
