Added to my #surveillance #resistance today:
- Set-up a virtual payment card with MySudo.
- Used that more private card to purchase 1GB of data ($3, no expiration) from eSim provider KeepGo.

If I NEED to make a call with a phone number away from home, turn on cellular w/ just that eSim to call with MySudo VOIP.

#Privacy win: No call metadata logged by a phone company (time, location, etc on my end). Bonus: mobile data can be used with Signal if needed.

No standard telecom carrier needed.

@dennyhenke MySudo terminates to the PSTN, so metadata is unavoidable. There's always a "phone company" involved. I think MySudo's upstream is Bandwidth.

@generalx Yeah, there would be metadata on the receiving end. But taken as a whole, the details about me in that interaction would be far fuzzier correct? My goal is to add layers of obscurity.

With a standard phone provider and SIM, my location and metadata is all right there: cell tower pings, calls, all neatly collected, mapped and shared. The leakage with an eSIM for data only would be less clear. Perhaps eventually traceable but only with a lot more effort. True?

@dennyhenke sure, as a whole, you're separating some of the long-term identifiers like IMSI and IMEI from the phone number used to call another party. So in theory, an attacker can't trace you to the cell ID or location code starting with your phone number.

But, depending on how targeted you are, how you interact with MySudo could eliminate the need for PSTN-based measures, eg with IP address or billing info provided to Google Play to pay for MySudo.

Depends on the threat model.
