Reduce, reuse, recycle
The new EU waste rules are in. We’re taking big steps to cut textile waste and boost our circular economy through:
👖 Charges for textile and footwear producers to fund collection, reuse, recycling and disposal
🧶 Adapted fees for producers based on textile durability
🧣 Uniform standards and proper sorting of textile waste before shipment
This is a major step forward in reducing waste and fostering sustainable production and consumption habits.
@EUCommission The likes of shops like Primark in the UK should be banned as they sell t-shirts which can barely be worn again after a single wash.

How about some taxes and regulations to address the primary contributors to global warming: large corporations and billionaires commuting via private jet and mega-yacht?
@EUCommission There was something on the radio the other day saying "you should wear each item of clothing at least 30 times before throwing it away."
Which I found interesting. I *think* I would be seriously disappointed in an article of clothing that disintegrated after being worn fewer than 30 times (and thus needed to be thrown away) ... but I don't actually know, because I don't count.
@EUCommission Did your shoes last just a year and you didn't bother to warranty them because they were so cheap anyways? Claim the two year warranty next time - it doesn't cost you anything, and lets the retail chain feel the sub-par quality.
@EUCommission How about actually doing something instead of shifting the blame to individuals. Do something against exploitative practises, regulate the sometimes dangerous imports of companies like Shein and Temu, regulate the amount of plastic companies can use in their clothing. They should not do whatever they want for profit if it affects the planet and us all.
Germany apparently got totally "surprised" by this and used clothes collection has basically collapsed.

on the surface, these changes seem well-intended, but how do they impact small and independent clothing stores who mainly manufacture their own designs?
@EUCommission how popular and what part in your garderobe is from the second-hand stores? I can proudly state that I can find near half of my daily clothing in second-hand stores. Decent quality, some even with factory labels, and very friendly price. That's a REAL saving - both for the planet and for one's valet.

Quindi se tutti riportassero in un area appositamente allestita e presidiata adiacente al centro commerciale, i rifiuti da lì si potrebbero restituire.
Le aziende potranno riciclare agevolmente con i loro fornitori gli imballi, che non prenderebbero fuoco...
