Finally got around to trying a BBB video chat with some family members, using bbb.nzoss.nz. Including allowing my granddaughter to see her parents while they were on holiday. The GreenLight interface isn't ideal for this use case, but with some minor tweaking to the defaults, it probably could be.

Here's the defaults I'd want for family chats on BBB;
* presentation turned off
* upon entering chat room, unmute mic and turn camera on
* dedicate majority of screen real estate to the video feed from the person you're talking to. Ideally by having my video tile inset in the corner of the one for the person I'm talking to, and vice-versa. So we can see each other clearly, but still get enough visual information to keep our cameras pointed in the right direction.
