@pezmico I am happy that some things are being done to help restore the gulf, but as the article points out it still leaves too many holes and advantages for commercial fishing. And it means in my case that I cannot take my kayak to catch one or two fish for the family launching from the beach that is an easy one for a kayak, but instead need to drive much further or paddle a long ways to get to waters I’m allowed to fish.

Bottom trawling and dredging need to be 100% banned.

And I really wish they would actually sell the bycatch from net fishing since there are plenty of tasty fish that just get dumped back, usually already half dead.
