Is it true, or apocryphal, that the BBC banned that song from the air because no one knew what the refrain meant and they assumed it was a drug reference?

Someone had asked him what he thought of their work. Before he answered, I chimed in, "Good idea, poor execution."
And, gosh, I'll remember to my dying day, the great David Crosby *replied* to me.
What he said was so profound I will never forget it.
He said, "Yeah."
That's no paraphrase, that's the literal quote.
