"it isn't just X—it's Y" is by far the most annoying ChatGPTism

@molly0xfff As for all other LLMisms, I worry how many human authors will be caught in the crossfire. After all, the LLMs probably picked this up somewhere...

@molly0xfff sounds like its caught the Marks and Spencer advert phrase from the UK for the last 10 years or so. "Its not just roast chicken, its m&s roast chicken"

@molly0xfff A youtuber I follow used the phrase so much in a video that despite having strong reasons to believe they'd never use AI, I still couldn't bear watching it :(

I'm at the point where if something I'm reading contains this structure, closing the tab is basically an involuntary reflex

@molly0xfff which is frustrating because I do this sometimes. Like using em dashes. I don't like having to write differently because people think I don't actually write.

@molly0xfff I was recently watching a YouTube video where they kept using AI generated pictures and after like the third one I instinctively hit the back button and clicked "do not recommend this channel again". I think there are a bunch of creators who think it's just saving them a few dollars and are just completely oblivious to how many people hate this stuff.

@fraggle @molly0xfff I have a colleague that has been a fan of using emdashes, going back decades. Kinda feel bad for her now, certain people are going to read her stuff and just think it's GPT.
