@Floppy that’s the cutest homelab!
@Floppy Cool! Happy days
Do I see 4 Rpi's? Is there a blog or post on the build?
I've just a heap of thin clients and laptops with broken screens, patched together as 6 node proxmox cluster with 2.5g backbone for integrated ceph and 1g managed network with vlans for services.
@floppy Huzzzahhhhhh!
@Floppy Where did you get the Lego. I Need IT!
Is it even possible to self host without a special and very expensive contract with your ISP?
If I exposed a URL in my house to the outside world I might get my Internet disconnected.
@Phosphenes @Floppy reverse proxy to a dirt cheap VPS
@Phosphenes @Floppy get a VPS at one of many mom n' pop providers. I don't think I've ever rented a VPS from an organization bigger than Gandi or Linode, and both of those were quite a while ago.
IMO self-managed VPS still falls within the self-hosting orbit, especially if the VPS is mostly just a network entry/exit. but even if it's an individual maintaining their own install on rented capacity, as opposed to paying for a complete soup to nuts SaaS install.
@Phosphenes yep, you don't even need a static IP address really. Maybe some of the consumer ISPs have terms that stop you doing it, but *technically* there's nothing to stop you.
@Floppy @Phosphenes technically, there are ISPs that block outgoing ports like 80, and 443. Ymmv.
@Floppy Love this set up…beautiful. Do you have a list of all of these items somewhere? I’m new to self hosting and right now I’m just using an old PC but I want to continue to improve and upgrade and I really love the look of what you’ve got going here.
@Floppy @StOnSoftware I just played q game with a puzzle just like that. Except: the keys were hidden, and the wires crossed.
Unless you are self hosting at us-east-1 😄
@Floppy thank you, I do celebrate. Smugly. 😄
