In 1940, the 17 year old Arne Sejr created a set of moral instructions called the "Ten Commandments for Danes" to hinder the Nazi occupation of Denmark. His work inspired collective action that ended up saving the lives of 99% of Danish Jews.

In 2025, a group of artists and organizers took inspiration from that list and created the "Ten Commandments of Defiance", alongside a document of resources of resistance. It was created with the US in mind, but can be applied to any fascist regime.

The Danes Resisted Fascism, and So Can We

A Guide to the Everyday Acts That Can Gum Up the Fascist Machine

Inspired by a Danish anti-Nazi list of 10 commandments, a group of artists and organizers made their own list to encourage ordinary people to resist the Trump administration.
