The only remaining part of my computing world that is not yet on Linux is my audio/music production work. Formulating a plan to try and make a move there, too.

Would love to connect up with anyone doing this seriously on Linux. I'm totally okay with re-tooling a bunch of my software stack, but I'm trying to figure out a good, solid audio interface that will work well for serious use under Linux.

@fortifieduniverse all of them that require no additional software are probably "USB Class Compliant" and will work on Linux. A giveaway is that they will be advertised as working on iOS.

@fortifieduniverse ardour is solid. I have paid for it. This is not a requirement. It does what you want, it works more or less how you'd expect. It rarely makes me angry.

@ajroach42 I've been on REAPER for years. It looks like REAPER should be relatively solid on Linux also?

On Windows I'm using an RME Fireface UFX (the original version) and it's rock solid. I use the internal mixer for zero-latency monitor mixes when recording. Would ideally like to find a similar kind of setup on Linux.

It _looks_ like the Focusrite Scarlett interfaces might get me to a similar place?

I also use the AES outs on my RME for my mains. I could probably do SPDIF->AES with a converter. Would I be able to control output volume on the SPDIF on the Focusrite?

And I've been on REAPER for years... so it looks like that should be a relatively simple parallel move onto Linux also.
