This article says the Trump admin to halt California's I-5 over an order a military display involving firing missiles as a show of power during No Kings under the guise of a Marine Corps anniversary? https://meidasnews.com/news/exclusive-trump-may-launch-missiles-from-warships-into-california-this-friday-and-saturday-as-part-of-vanity-parade-

That's... no way. That can't be real right?

My expectations tend to be pessimistic but really no way

There's no way they'd do this... right?!?!

@cwebber I saw a broadcast local news item this morning (Thursday) saying the I-5 is expected to be closed for this 250 anniversary “event”.

IMO doing this shit, because of the terrible optics, and messaging is pure intentional and the goal.

Flaunting these things is a show of strength, and that's what matters to the fash. They revel in not giving a fuck about anyone but themselves.

@cwebber I used to live a little ways south of Oceanside; the area has been politically polarized for a long time but if there's *one thing* everyone there can probably agree on it's that I-5 must not be closed for anything short of a major natural disaster.

@cwebber

Its looking real. They are desperate to distract the news and social media from showing how wildly unpopular they are.

Newsom warns of missiles over I-5, but freeway will remain open during live-fire Camp Pendleton event

Gov. Gavin Newsom raised concerns over a White House-directed plan to use live ordnance during a military anniversary celebration off Camp Pendleton’s coast — where his office says Navy ships are expected to fire over Interstate 5 and onto the base.

@cwebber They're not going to get away with ordering federal employees around without paying them for very long.
