I read The March of Folly many years ago. It's central premise is the paradox of individuals, organisations, or governments that persistently act in a manner that is contrary to their own best interests. Reflecting on events in the world today, I can't help but think that the lessons from the work of this great historian have already been forgotten. Perhaps some politicians in office today should give it a read...
