Is autistic self-identification valid?

I just completed a quantitative research paper comparing autism traits in medically diagnosed autistic people with the same traits in self-identifying autistic people and I can definitively say with more stats behind it than I care to ever think about again, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!

@mijei Not in a "I'm questioning their methods/results" way but in a "wait this possibly implies they did X and ifso I want to learn more"--

Wait how do you take a representative random sample of people who have self-diagnosed? That sort of sampling was a really nuanced nontrivial problem to eithrr do or navigate around last time I looked at it, and how did they approach?
