@futzle @s0 I am not making any general recommendations for Netgear, I have also been burned, but hilariously in this case it was the only setup I could find where there was supporting documentation from the manufacturer that an app and account was not required for setup.

Well, unless I went for a full enterprise-grade fitout at home, but we're not *quite* at that point yet.

@mike @futzle @s0 one wonders in whose view “not quite” exists? 😉

@trib @futzle @s0 it's mainly about order of operations, I'll get the infrastructure cabling done when I'm ready to get an electrician to do the rest of the wiring as well. 🙃

@mike @futzle @s0 I hear this. I'd like to data cable our place, but it's 3 separate buildings (original kit house, 2-storey garage against the house, kit lounge and loft/office in building attached to the veranda). Doing data cabling would be a burden.

Aside, vaguely related: I'm talking to our electrician/solar installer about putting in an EV charger, and given the original electrical infrastructure, and the fact that the MSB has no room left in it, it looks like a DC charger directly on the battery stack is the best option as there wouldn't be the significant house rewiring and new MSB required of an AC charger.
