That thing where you pause in a pub in Malmö for a beer and are recognized by a random Swedish SF fan and: drunk now what happen
Post
Deunk enough to be saying “SFedish”?
@cstross in case you're still in Malmö during the day tomorrow, the Malmö branch of the Swedish bookshop chain SF Bokhandeln has a Doctor Who style police box inside. Great shop. Great staff, too.
@cstross I note that @cunobaros (aka @MicroSFF ) moved from here to Malmo
@cstross skål
ETA, well, that's Norwegian. Whatever the Swedes say.
@cstross Another friend who is a successful sf writer has talked about the experience of traveling and suddenly meeting a fan. Seems like being an sf/fantasy writer is a pleasant level of celebrity; you occasionally meet fans but you're mostly anonymous like anybody else, with all the benefits from that anonymity.
I still remember 30 years ago when I was super-active on the GEnie SFRT and went to a local con and about a half-dozen people said they were delighted to meet me. My one and only experience in life as an object of fandom!
@cstross It gets dark so early there...
@cstross dismantle the planets!
@cstross Check for Babel fish and a towel.
@cstross what what you're touring Sweden?
