@davidgerard yes, I read a bit of this yesterday and today and now I deffo won't be getting a framework as a new laptop. Second hand thinkpads it is. Well, at least I would have saved some money.

@cstross @midnightspire @davidgerard there's currently a whole thing starting with Ruby being the latest big one. It turns out there's a bunch of open-source software developers who are in control of their projects infrastructure have turned out to be far right racists
Honestly from a demographic overlap standpoint it kind of makes sense the same way that a lot of open source devs caught the crypto brain worms hard

I am a Framework Linux Community Ambassador, now I have to decide what to do.
I feel you. I'll keep using the hardware, but I'm less interested in doing free tech support in the forums and helping other people with their stuff. If they've got enough money to hand out like this, they've got enough to field their own damn tech support - Unless proving they're on board with the far right is MORE important than fully supporting their own product.

Honestly the thread's a pretty good example of how to spot various attempts to dilute or diffuse or justify things. Definitely not arguing in good faith, as the later posts make clear (including some moderation action).
But if people need some examples of how faux civility is weaponized, it's solid for that.
As for framework, made my decisions, but I wasn't buying a laptop from them next week anyway.

@davidgerard oof. technology is not neutral. i am waiting for my current hardware to expire before buying anything but had been hoping to buy Framework. this makes me rethink that.
