Due to the rapid melting of glaciers and the warming of the oceans, sea levels could rise by up to 1.3 meters by the end of this century, flooding coastal areas of St. Petersburg, southern Rostov-on-Don, Kerch, Adler, and even Kronstadt.
By the year 2300, the rise could reach a catastrophic 5.6 meters, scientists warn.
According to climatologists, the oceans are now warming four times faster than 40 years ago.
