@tomstafford @clive @mastodonmigration IMHO Big Tech social platforms have trained people for decades to desire to build a personal brand.

So the discourse is all « me me me pay attention to me, I want more followers more likes more comments. Pay attention to meeee, more more more » … (this applies to the culture of Bluesky too IMHO).

Conversely, the Fediverse is delightfully collectivist and anti-brand… and I LOOOOOVE that ❤️

Big Tech platforms now give me the ick

strong agree

i was a twitter early adopter and enjoyed my time on there, but the reinforcement loops for that kind of brand behaviour got tighter and tighter and now when I go back to X or bluesky the effect is striking. I think "How do people live like this?" before quickly logging off
