One might exercise doubt and restraint justifiably when it comes to rockstars, especially ones who have a horrific reputation, and little to offer by way of redemption.

But here's the aging singer turned responsible and empathic American, citizen Axl Rose.

Yeah he's quoting one of his old songs and framing it from a place of individual need, but even if clumsily executed, this still counts as the right thing to do in my book.

@vruz when that song first came out, I loved the tune but thought the lyrics were dopey and contrived. It feels a *lot* different when I listen to it now. Still a bit contrived but also pretty relevant.

The complete stanza for that song was:

"I don't need your civil war
it feeds the rich
while it buries the poor"

which makes it poignantly fitting in this case, after all.
