@Tutanota
Do you have a source for this?
@Tutanota the vote is suppose to be on the 14th of October, right? are we really sure?... just asking
@Tutanota By Alexandra Geese, German MEP: "This success shows that public pressure and a strong civil society work!
But: Our chats will only be safe once the federal government has clearly taken a position and the vote in the Council has been officially scheduled for next week. And one thing is also clear: There will be a next proposal.

@Tutanota what is this chat control can anyone explain is this some new law on communication and if tuta opposes it then it might be against privacy of users as far I could understand
I thought Sweden had retaken Norway for a bit before I noticed Switzerland was not there too. Do people in Switzerland get swimming lessons?
@Tutanota why Spain and Portugal are in favor of this?
To everyone in the comments already painting the future black despite the good news and happiness and believe that hope is possible and something bad might have been avoided for now:
Guys,girls and rest,
not appreciating speckles of light and already catastrophysing and pushing down hope is exactly what helps facism and power-hungry people.
If they take away our hope and faith in a possible better wotld, they've won.
Hopelessness births apathy.
I am so fucking relieved!!!
I was anxious to evennooen up Mastodon in order to see hiw it is going.
@Tutanota Free Europe! This is our last hope, I'm not kidding!
As the rest of the world turns into authoritarian police state, opposing madness like this is how we save our continent!
How else are we supposed to attract the best talent, the best innovation & the best culture?
Do we want to be a bastion of freedom of expression, shining on the hill or not?
Or do we want to be an authoritarian shithole like the rest of them?
@Tutanota "will oppose"
ill believe it when i see it.
@Tutanota
as a reminder for people worldwide, this just doesn't end here.
there will be new attempts and not limited to e.u.. preventing horrible laws is a long term process, not a single action.
@Tutanota Now the goal for citizens of undecided/supportive countries is to make politicians understand why opposing chat control is a good idea. This needs to be buried once and for all.
@Tutanota phew. The fight will never be over, though.
@Tutanota how can we make sure this doesn't come back again? It seems like this is the third time around or so.
