Hi Mastodon people!
We have a lot of new people on here, so this is my desperate plea for the pedantic people on Mastodon to pause before responding to anyone's post and ask yourself:
Is this actually funny?
Am I adding value?
Do I REALLY need to say this?
I think that additional check should help welcome the new people and make Mastodon a better place overall.
@Alice Do these rules add value to the Primary, "Don't be a dick-head" Rule? I'm not trying to be funny. Theory: the best societies minimise the number of rules to prevent contravention of the Primary Rule.

By that criterion we could probably eliminate close to 100% of Mastodon posts and then we could finally have some peace and quiet around here.

@Alice Not gonna lie, 90% of the reason I'm an intermittent poster is because I realize a post breaks two and three in a desperate attempt to be one, and i wipe the whole thing.

If I worried about that I wouldn't have anything to post. 🛸
For the record, I have even caught myself doing this in the past and sometimes I've even written a full paragraph before I was like "what will anybody gain from this?"
But often in my case it's my concern that my response will open the gates of hell to another person's annoying response and then I just delete what I wrote and move along with my happy little life until I find the next funny post by one of my fellow chaos goblins and am able to laugh all over again.

Folks should charge in with reckless abandon and post whatever chaos first comes to mind in the heat of the moment.
