@downey i guess the only thing to check it's, if they have a choice, for instance @GrapheneOS is for now obligated to hold source of security fix, but will make them open sourced at the second they legally can, and even offer a full open version without those security fix.

so it's less black and white in the reality and more, is it their choice to make it proprietary for now (or not in the graphene os case).
