@MaryAustinBooks I so want to do a mockumentary about the terrible warfare in Portland. It would start with a drone overfly, showing the utter lack of buildings on fire or whatever. Then a David Attenborough voice would come on, saying something like:

From a distance, these urban streets may seem in a state of peace. The city appears tranquil -- the elegance of its tall buildings unmarred by any signs of damage or unrest, its mass transportation running on schedule.

This placid façade, however, masks a savage and violent reality.

[zoom in to a business district -- scene of families eating outside restaurants, people going in and out of shops, etc.]

These smiling faces conceal a long, harsh, and viciously bitter conflict -- played out in dollars and cents on countless corporate bottom lines, and in human lives wasted and lost in the endless fight for ever-greater profits: the deadly scourge of capitalism.

[scenes of tired Uber drivers, workers in Amazon warehouses, homeless people, long queues at payday-loan joints...]

(...and that's all I got fer now.)

Obviously these ladies understand the assignment too. 😆 👏🏼
