I don't think the latest "Tylenol gives your baby autism!! 😩 " bs is really about the medical effects of acetaminophen use during pregnancy at all. I think it's about testing how far they can go with denying pregnant people, and AFAB people at large, control and care over their bodies on the pretext of protecting babies. It's also about drumming up fear of #autism and hatred of #autistic people as fundamentally undesirable beings who should never have been born, medical mistakes conveniently blamed on the bogeywoman of the selfish, never-good-enough mother (oh hi there, dusty specter of Refrigerator Mom!). The pincer attack of misogyny and eugenics has been escalating for decades and I expect things to ratchet up from here.
