@_elena Great post! I wish I had read this when I started with the fediverse, as moving now would mean losing my current profile (I don't want to keep more than one). There are options that I find more appealing than Mastodon now. 😅
@danielcasanueva actually a couple of people here ( @box464 and @joel ) have documented on their blogs how to move an entire Mastodon account (including the archives) to GoToSocial using SLURP. So technically it is possible if you're so inclined.
I'm forever tempted to set up a Sharkey account but I think Mastodon is a more solid option (longevity-wise)...

@ryse LOL I wish I could get funding to make a feature-length doc about the Fediverse (these things ain't cheap and could cost as much as 150k+) 🥲
@_elena I believe that. If it were up to me, I'd say let's make one less superhero movie and then use those funds to make a Fediverse documentary instead! 🤞

About LinkedIn: Same thoughts here. As is, the fediverse as a whole should be able to facilitate the functionality, LinkedIn delivers. Maybe it is a matter of
a) nudging people to move.
b) being creative with the platforms at hand.
For now I am focused on doing the little I can about a)
I’m planning on trying to get my wife (avid instagrammer) and her mom (a tumblr-er from waaay back) to try and make the switch. I’m sure the problem I’ll have is lack of content and reach. They’re both very against big tech but they have such good friend groups now.
Wish me luck! I’ll tell you how it goes!
