Starting my first watch-through of #StarTrekDS9. I know very little of this show other than it takes place on a space staton instead of a ship.
I'm a bit concerned about how much it's intertwined and reliant on other shows. Hopefully it's not too much. I like it when a a show can stand on its own.
@timelordiroh if it's any reassurance, it's pretty standalone once it really gets started. The first couple episodes interlink with TNG a fair bit, to help people ease into it I suppose, but it's quite independent later on.
TNG did some setup episodes for it ("The Wounded", "Journey's End", "Preemptive Strike"), but that's about the extent of it, if I remember right.
@timelordiroh I'd say, just like the other 90s Trek, it takes about a season to really get off the ground. It varies; TNG needed two mediocre seasons before it really took off, I'd say VOY got there with two and a half (and then worsened later), and ENT needed three absolutely terrible seasons (and got good just in time to be cancelled), but DS9, imo, gets there a little qicker.
@timelordiroh oh and just like TNG, expect some real hit-or-miss misses early on. Once again, the quality gets more consistent later on.

I'm quite confused so far. I tried a rewatch a while ago and remember a grand entry into a bright and shining station. What I'm watching now is very different from what I remember.
