I have really come to acknowledge exercise as a physiological need, on the same level as eating, sleeping or leisure.

Three weeks into running and I’m already feeling so much better than I used to. My body hasn’t changed visibly and I didn’t lose a gram, but I feel better.

Does it really make sense to draw an arbitrary line between physical and mental health? Aren’t they influencing each other enough that we can just call both “health”?

I wish I could double star your post.

There is mental exercise and physical exercise and each is important and necessary for a health person and healthy society.

@thibaultamartin
There is definitely a link between physical and mental wellbeing.
If you haven't done so already I recommend following the #running here.
Tons of good people, thoroughly supportive and with a great range of running experience.
Enjoy your running.

@thibaultamartin Absolutely, the body is extremely connected with the mind. It's not coincidence that when you see someone with mental health issues, their overall body movement tends to be janky, stuttery, uncoordinated.

A worrying trend I see in some terminally online younger Internet communities is that they consider themselves a beautiful mind stuck piloting a "meat robot" - in other words, they do not consider their body as part of their self.
