Note to self, at some point I must write a post with a brief history and current overview of all the Free Code and/or decentralised profile tools, including FOAF, Libravatar, LinkStack, Murmurations, etc. Maybe commenting on how this interacts with decentralised social networks.

Surely, in the 21st century, we can set up the plumbing so people can maintain a profile (name, avatar, contact links, etc) in one place and use it everywhere they interact online.
