Ok, but for real, a few points (I can't speak for the RFC, I'm just talkin' history and origins):
1. The only reason acct: exists is because people were sticklers for URIs, because any valid URI is a valid input to the webfinger lookup. Email addresses don't have URIs, I thought it was unnecessary, but 🤷♂️
2. Therefore, ... I guess? 😅 Advantage: this would make webfinger-style lookup 100% compatible with bsky handles. Ahem.
