Just had the most 2025 internet moment possible. Clicked on a youtube video of Derek Bailey improvisation and found it change out from underneath to become "Video footage of Utah Shooter..."
Is it because I was using a proxy to read the Derek Bailey article? I don't care any more.
Here's the article at least. Stewart Lee on Derek Bailey is surprisingly touching:

Here is Derek Bailey's Guitar, Drum & Bass as mentioned in the article.
It's *wild* and doesn't give you any space to breathe before diving in (artefact of the upload or part of the recording? No idea)
I mind reading about this a few years after it came out and being intrigued, but not enough to hunt it out. Probably for the best, I think I would have bounced off of it quite hard at the time.

...I think it might be that the uploader played the "wrong" side first. Around about 26 minutes(*) in, there's a pause and the music starts up again more quietly, with a definite "warm up" feel that the start doesn't have. So you might want to skip forward if the intro is too bracing for your morning coffee.

(*) 26 minutes being about the limit of one side of an LP, for the children out there.

That frenetic opener on the upload is indeed how this wild (and brilliant!) CD started. Straight into the action! I suppose Derek never was one for compromise…

Amazing! I loved it once I was over the initial shock, (or my coffee started to metabolise).
