So yes Bill has talked for many years about supporting a positive vision (a bit like my architect former employer Bill McDonough) which I have brought with me in everything I do. It is not enough to be against failure and suffering, we must be for something and then it takes time and work and money to make that good thing happen. #progress

And yes, zoning is of course a powerful tool to block needed improvements, enforce scarcity and super charge inflation. I spend most of my time thinking about housing, but this is becoming increasingly relevant in the energy space as federal, state and local government actors race to shut down a variety of needed energy projects planned or underway, including #solar . I like Bill’s idea of legalizing balcony solar as #Utah has done

@span Lyle I was listening to volts podcast about city of Ann Arbor starting their own municipal power company, that is pro solar and is allowed to put up distribution, since the existing PUC and public power company is dragging its heels so bad.

If you haven't watched/listened to that one, it's a really neat hack/workaround to the general stonewalling around getting solar power out to the city that's coming up. City power will just pay for your solar install, for example.

@span Lyle And the power company can't say no thanks, because it's a second set of wires.
