Hi.

So lace wasn't originally made by machine, like it largely is today! It was made by hand in a variety of ways: knots, loops and weaving.

Elena Kanagy-Loux probably can be considered a master lacemaker. She does bobbin and needle lace for museums, for demonstrations, and even for couture clothing and jewelry. (I forget if she can do frivolite/tatting.)

Here's a short of her talking about an over 200 year old veil. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4fudNm_FJVY
