I just checked my latest Google Search Console report for Cybercultural. Couple of notable trends, that I think apply to other indie websites too:

1. Google has totally turned off Google Discover traffic for my site over the past 3 months. I never got big traffic from it, but at least my posts had a chance before. I suspect Google's algo has pivoted Discover traffic to larger sites, to keep them quiet.

2. Clicks per impression 0.50% (was 2.25% at peak). This is AI Overviews/Mode at play #SEO

My own experience of using Discover bears out #1: I only seem to see large sites, whether tech or news. So tech sites like The Verge and (thankfully) my own employer The New Stack still show up in Discover. But I very rarely see an indie website anymore. Of course, that's just my own observations. Would be interested in what others are seeing with Google Discover. Over time, the big G will turn off that traffic hose for more sites...prob will end up an AI-generated feed at some point.
